We’ll be searching for and herbiciding invasive flame-vine at Archbold’s Red Hill Area.
Invasive plants will take over habitat, taking away territory for endangered species and other wildlife.
Please wear long pants/long sleeves and a hat, and bring your work gloves and a hiker’s water bottle or similar with drinking water.
Meet at 8 AM in Archbold's main parking area.
Directions
From the intersection of US 27 and SR 70 south of Lake Placid, turn west on SR 70. Go one mile to CR 17/Old SR 8 and turn left (south) on Old SR 8. Go 1.8 miles to the main entrance of Archbold Biological Station, turn right (west) and follow the entrance drive to the parking area.
This workday will be led by Archbold's Laura Elston.
The Archbold Biological Station is a research institute with a surrounding 5,192.63-acre estate near Lake Placid, Florida. It includes an extensive area of Florida scrub, a scientifically interesting and highly threatened ecosystem.
