We'll be meeting at Bok Tower Gardens and then moving to a nearby BTG sandhill restoration site in Mountain Lake Estates where we’ll be removing exotic plants like Brazilian Pepper.
Two workdays in 2017 for this effort: January 21 and March 11.
How this effort helps:
This work day at our Sandhill restoration site at Mountain Lake Estates to remove invasive vegetation is an important step to help this area recover and transition back into ideal Sandhill habitat. This area within MLE once contained the rare Clasping Warea, Warea amplexifolia, and the clean-up efforts should help to uncover any remnant seedbank of this and other important native Sandhill species.
Please wear long pants/long sleeves, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and a hat. Bring your work gloves and a hiker's water bottle or similar. We'll have plenty of cold drinking water and all the tools needed.
Meet at the Center for Education and Conservation at Bok Tower Gardens at 8 AM. We'll carpool to the work area from there.
Please tell the gate attendant that you're volunteering so you won't be charged admission.
