Help remove invasive natal grass on a former pasture


Hilochee Wildlife Management Area

Although very close to US 27 and the Lake Wales Ridge; Hilochee is within an area called the Green Swamp, a critical hydrologic resource, encompassing the headwaters of the Withlacoochee, Little Withlacoochee, Ocklawaha, Hillsborough and Peace rivers and serving as a major recharge area for the Floridan aquifer.

Your efforts removing these invasive plants will help allow native plants to thrive in this wildlife area!

Please bring your work gloves. Drinking water will be provided.

Also, please wear sunscreen,sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants/long sleeves, and a hat. You may wish to bring a hiker's water bottle or similar to carry drinking water.

Hilochee Wildlife Management Area is located between I-4 and Clermont, and the entrance/meeting location is 3 miles to the west of US 27 on County Road 474.
