What will we be doing?

We will be surveying a large parcel of land on Bullfrog Creek Mitigation Park (~130 acres) identifying and marking gopher tortoise burrows with flagging tape and GPS units.  We will be using line-transects to survey the entire property. To improve the habitat FWC will be undertaking roller chopping and we need to identify the location of the burrows to ensure they are protected during this land improvement activity.

What you need to bring with you?

We recommend that you wear closed toed shoes and long pants as the vegetation can be thick and thorny . Please bring a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle. We will have a cooler of ice-water onsite.

How to register?

You can register for this event using the FWC Calendar or by emailing Brendan O'Connor (Brendan.OConnor@myfwc.com)

Where to meet?

We will be meeting at Bullfrog Creek Mitigation Park, located at 14501 US 301, Wimauma. The site entrance is a little obscure but it located adjacent to a Florida Forestry Service field office.
