Beginner Archery

Learn the basics of archery under the guidance of certified instructors! We welcome repeat participants and do our best to customize each class based on the skill and experience levels of the participants. Chinsegut will provide all equipment. No outside equipment is allowed. Ages 8+ are invited to participate in this session. Children who participate must have a parent or guardian present. Parents/guardians may be asked to assist their children. Program length is 1.5 hours.

Limited spots are available and advanced registration is required. Click on 'Register" above to begin.

**Please only register those who plan to participate. For example, if you are a parent or guardian of a child who wishes to participate, but you yourself do not want to participate, please only register the child with your contact information.

It's recommended that participants wear close-toed shoes and bring water to stay hydrated.

Chinsegut has one track chair available on a first come, first serve basis for people with mobility challenges. Knee-High Naturalists: Science Stories (ages 3-5)

Explore the wonders of wildlife through engaging stories and interactive science exploration in this program for ages 3 to 5.

Get ready for a morning of feathered fun as we explore the busy world of woodpeckers. We’ll start with an interactive story about these “drummers of the forest” before diving into a hands-on science experiment and simulation game to learn how these birds survive. Finally, we’ll head outdoors to look and listen for real woodpecker signs in the trees around us. Hats and sun protection are recommended.

Hilary Flower Presents: The Bird That Saved Itself

Join us on Saturday, July 25, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm as Chinsegut Conservation Center welcomes scientist and author Hilary Flower for her presentation, The Bird That Saved Itself: The Everglade Snail Kite Story.

In this 45‑minute talk, Flower shares the remarkable comeback of the Everglade Snail Kite, an endangered bird that adapted to invasive prey and shifting habitats in ways few expected. Blending ecology, personal journey, and hope, she offers fresh insight into how species survive and sometimes even flourish in a changing world.

A discussion and Q&A will follow the presentation, giving guests the chance to dive deeper into the story and explore broader themes of species resilience and conservation in Florida.

We hope you’ll join us for this inspiring look at adaptation, ingenuity, and the power of nature to surprise us.

Monthly 3D Archery Shoot

Join us for our next 3D Archery shoot on Saturday, August 1st!

Participants must bring their own archery equipment. Traditional and compound are welcome, no crossbows or broadheads allowed (target tips only). No pre-registration is required, but participants must sign-in before participating at each event and complete liability waivers annually. The registration table will be located inside the conservation center. Participants have the opportunity to sight in their bow at the practice range before starting the course.

Registration and practice range are open from 8-9am. 3D archery starts at 9am with a safety briefing. There is a walk (just under 1/2 of a mile) to get down to the range along steep, unpaved, sometimes sandy trails. We highly recommend that participants wear closed-toe shoes. There will be 15 targets set-up this month. The range closes when all participants have completed the course or at 1pm, whichever comes first.

There's a suggested donation of $10 per participant 16 and up, $5 for those 15 and under. Maximum suggested donation per household is $25. Cash or check only please. These funds go right back into supporting programs at Chinsegut like this one.
