This is one of a four-day project to plant scrub oaks to help restore former pasture land to scrub oak habitat.

The project starts on Saturday, June 22, and ends on Saturday, July 20,

and we're hoping you can participant in one or more of the workdays!

We'll be working in teams to move across former pasture land, planting and watering scrub oaks from a vehicle. You won't need to wear protection from brush – shorts, sneakers, and a T-shirt OK – but you'll definitely want to wear sun protection.

Bring your work gloves and hiker's water bottle or similar. We'll have plenty of cold drinking water and all the tools needed.

Royce Ranch has restroom facilities at the meeting area.


From the corner of US 27 and CR 621 in Lake Placid, go east on CR 621 1.7 miles to Hallmark Ave. on the left. Turn left on Hallmark. After 3.6 miles the road makes a sharp left and sharp right and changes names to Royce Ranch Ave. After a total of 5.0 miles on Hallmark / Royce Ranch Ave, Royce Ranch is on the left, marked by an FWC logo. Turn left onto the driveway and follow it back to the offices.
