Fish and Wildlife Research Institute is beginning a 10-year scallop restoration project in the Panhandle. This April - January, volunteers in St. Joe and St. Andrew's bays are "scallop-sitting" cages of scallops in order to kick off this restoration project. We need your help to distribute all of the materials and scallops to their sitters! Sitters will be coming to AMIkids Marine Institute between 3pm and 7pm to pick up their permits, live scallops, cages, weights, and buoys.

In addition to passing out materials, you may be asked to help FWRI collect size data on the scallops that are being distributed. This will require measuring live scallops and recording measurements on a data sheet. Knowing the size at distribution will allow our scientists to calculate growth rates of the scallops over the course of the project.
