This workday is being changed to debris cleanup at FWC Carter Creek - more details coming.

We’ll be moving along the edge of the FWC Holmes property, removing tires and other debris where a fence be shortly installed.

Meet at the FWC Maintenance shop on CR 621

1205 County Road 621 E

Lake Placid, FL 33852

Please bring your work gloves! You’ll also want to wear sturdy footwear, long pants, and shirt and hat for sun protection. The terrain is grassy with some brush.

We’ll have all the tools needed and plenty of cold drinking water.

The FWC Holmes Unit is part of the Lake Wales Ridge Wildlife and Environmental Area. The most distinctive natural community on the Lake Wales Ridge is scrub, home to one of the rarest collections of plants and animals in the world. Healthy scrub has the appearance of a miniature forest with trees seldom taller than 10 feet and open patches of sand. The WEA contains 20 of 22 federally listed plant species known to occur on the Lake Wales Ridge
