What we'll be doing?

We will be paddling throughout a beautiful shaded creek while removing debris and litter from our Florida waterways. Debris and litter pose a high risk to fish and wildlife through entanglement and ingestion. We will provide gloves, grabbers and all the materials we need for the cleanup.

What should you bring?

Bring your own kayak and a life jacket. If you do not have access to a kayak, you can reserve one from Florida Bay Outfitters, free of charge, for your participation in this cleanup. After registering with us, call them at (305) 451-3018 and let them know that you will be reserving a kayak for the FWC Cleanup on August 29. Kayak availability is limited, reserve your kayak no later than Monday 8/26.

Wear closed toe shoes (i.e. no flip flops) that can get wet and dirty. Long pants and long sleeve shirt are recommended to keep the sun and bugs off you. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat. We will provide water but please bring your own water bottle. Snacks (optional).

This cleanup will be on the water and you will need to be comfortable operating a kayak independently and getting wet. You also need to be a comfortable swimmer.

Minors 16 or older are welcome to participate with parent permission written approval received no later than 8/26.

We will meet at 9:15 am at the end of Caribbean Ave., Tavernier.

On US 1, mile marker 92.6 ocean side, turn onto Burton Dr. and then follow the sign to Harry Harris Beach and Park. At the park entrance on E Beach Rd., take a left onto Dove Creek Dr. and follow it to the last street - Caribbean Avenue, take a left and go to the end to park your car.

If you have any difficulty signing up for the activity, drop me an email and let me know you're planning on attending
