This is a monthly fun Muzzle Loading shooting competition held in conjunction with the Florida Frontiersmen. At this event only muzzle loading traditional rifles may be used. Inline muzzle loaders are not permitted. Sights must be open, no optic sights or magnification allowed. All projectiles must be of lead, round ball, and patched. There is a fee of $7.00 per shooter to cover the costs of targets. Each additional aggregate (knife/tomahawk and traditional bow) has a fee of $1.00.

The Lakeland YHEC Team has several team rifles that may be loaned out in .45 and .50 calibers. We have all the necessary supplies and safety gear (shooting glasses and hearing protection) as well. If your child has never shot a muzzle loader we have coaches that will help instruct your child.

If your child would like to learn how to throw a knife or tomahawk, club members will gladly instruct them. All supplies will be provided. If your child would like to try traditional archery they will need to bring a re-curve bow and arrows as the Lakeland YHEC club does not have these items yet.

Florida Frontiersmen require that all new shooters sign in at the range cabin and sign a wavier form before shooting. This form will also give each shooter a unique number. This form will only have to be signed the first time, as it will remain of file with the club.

During the event it is suggested that you bring snacks and drinks for your child as the club does not sell food or drink items. Parents are encouraged to bring a folding chair as seating is not available behind the shooting line.

Awards will be given to the top three shooters over all.
