Volunteering with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

We are looking for volunteers that are comfortable interacting with the general public, and who can assist FWC staff with daily routines. We provide training to explain the logistics of getting to the Florida State Fairgrounds, where to report for duty, and also an overview for select species on display so that you’re comfortable answering basic questions. FWC biologists will be on hand to answer any questions you feel unsure about and we encourage you to lean on their expertise.

You will get 2 tickets to get into the Florida State Fairgrounds, and an opportunity to educate the public about Florida's native and nonnative wildlife species.

What will volunteers be doing at the 2020 Florida State Fair for FWC?

There are several volunteer opportunities available, which includes:

  1. Providing information on the American alligator to members of the public, and ensuring the well being of the animal on display,
  2. Providing information on Catch A Florida Memory (saltwater Grand Slams challenge)
  3. Assisting staff with opening and closing each day which will include cleaning glass, sweeping floors, as well as directing visitors through the various exhibits
  4. Hands-on kids activities

How do I signup?

We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to assist each shift, which are:

  • Friday and Saturday; 9AM - 2PM and 2PM – 7PM
  • Sunday through Thursday; 10AM - 2PM, and 2PM – 6PM
