FWC fence installation project to benefit Lake Wales Ridge Wildlife and Environmental Areas

FWC is seeking Ridge Rangers to assist with fence installation on several properties that are part of the Lake Wales Ridge Wildlife and Environmental Areas (LWRWEA). These properties provide needed habitat and refuge for scrub jays, sand skinks, black bears, gopher tortoises and other protected species found on the Lake Wales Ridge.

The Holmes Ave tract of the LWRWEA is located in Lake Placid near our field office. We are continuing efforts to fence the property along its western boundary.

Use this address to navigate to the meeting location: 140 Holmes Ave Lake Placid, Fl 33852.

From Hwy 27 follow 621 to the corner of Holmes and 621. It will be very close to the new Dollar General.

**IMPORTANT**  FWC has advised staff and volunteers to follow CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19 safety. Current CDC guidelines recommend staying a minimum of 6 feet/2 meters from one another, and if not possible, to wear face coverings even if fully vaccinated. Staff and volunteers should avoid physical contact with anyone, including third parties such as contractors or researchers, when engaging in fieldwork.
