Invasive Plant Removal at Crooked Lake Sandhill with Polk Co’s Environmental Lands Program

Come join at one of Florida’s highest elevations as we assist Polk County’s Environmental Lands Program with restoring the Crooked Lake Sandhill preserve near Babson Park, Fl. We have been making progress around the perimeter of the property removing invasive species to protect native vegetation and important wildlife habitat.

We will use hand tools to uproot invasive grasses, vines and small trees. Biologists will be on site to assist with plant ID and work alongside volunteers and the site offers a wonderful view of the lake and distant Bok Tower.

Use this address to navigate to the meeting location: 1025 Hollister Rd Babson Park, Fl, 33827

**IMPORTANT**  FWC has advised staff and volunteers to follow CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19 safety. Current CDC guidelines recommend staying a minimum of 6 feet/2 meters from one another, and if not possible, to wear face coverings even if fully vaccinated. Staff and volunteers should avoid physical contact with anyone, including third parties such as contractors or researchers, when engaging in fieldwork.
