Help restore damaged habitat.

We'll be removing invasive Chinese Tallow from along the Peace River in the 280 acre Upper Peace River Conservation Area (we won't be working in water).
Cutting chinese tallow trees reduces harmful invasive plants that out compete with native floodplain forest species.

This is the same area where the Ridge Rangers helped clear Chinese Tallow several times before
 .

We'll be working in teams, using hand saws, sawsalls, and chainsaws (for qualified persons) to cut down or girdle the trees.

We'll also be marking the trees using GPS units -- need people to carry and operate the units -- they're small and simple!

Meeting Place

We'll be meeting at the end of South Clear Springs Road in Bartow.

Clear Springs Road runs east from US 17/98 on the south side of Bartow, and is the road immediately to the south of Peace River Citrus Plant.

See this Google Map to view the meeting location: http://goo.gl/maps/jDZdu

We'll be moving to the work area along the Peace River area from the meeting location .

What to wear

We'll be working in brush with some shade. Suggest long pants, long sleeves, hat, and sturdy shoes.

What to bring

Bring your gloves (we'll have extras). We'll have all tools necessary and drinking water and snack bars

Facilities

Plenty of great nature but no facilities at either the meeting location or the work location.
