Participate in National Public Lands Day and help restore a sandhill conservation area

at
Bok Tower Gardens!

We'll be cutting, pulling, and piling trees to clear undesirable underbrush

 

More than just beautiful gardens, Bok Tower Gardens is a leader in conservation on the Lake Wales Ridge Ecosystem.You'll be helping to return one of Bok Tower's preserve areas back to pristine habitat by restoring sandhill habitat.


Please be sure to register via the button above so we know you're coming!

(and you'll be in the loop for any last minute information)


 We'll be working in brush, and you need to wear sturdy closed-toed shoes, long pants/long sleeves, and a hat!

 Please wear sunscreen, and bring a hiker's water bottle and your work gloves. Cold drinking water and all other equipment needed will be provided.

 


Meet in the Hort Building (the gate attendent can provide instructions)

Directions

From Highway 60 East or West: Go to Lake Wales and proceed north on U.S. Highway 27. Turn right on Mountain Lake Cutoff Road. At the caution light, turn right (south) onto County Road 17 (also known as Scenic Highway). Proceed on CR 17 for 3/4 miles. Turn left (east) onto Burns Avenue (also known as County Road 17-A). Proceed on Burns Avenue for 1.3 miles. On your left you'll see a main entrance sign to Bok Tower Gardens. Turn left and proceed to the entrance gate.

The attendent at the entrance gate will provide directions to the Hort building.

No entrance fee for NPLD participants.
