Join the FL Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, Coastal Plains Institute, and US Forest Service as we collect litter in a portion of the Apalachicola National Forest. We will have a centralized meeting location at which we will distribute equipment and directions to targeted clean-up areas. From there you can set out to clean-up the area of your choice. We will be working around ephemeral wetlands, which are important habitat for amphibians and other species.
Central Meeting Location:
From Tallahassee: Drive 1.5 miles south on Crawfordville Hwy from Capital Circle to the intersection with Rivers Road. Use the left turn lane to make a U-turn so you are heading back north up Crawfordville Hwy. Turn right just after crossing Munson Slough (there is a brown sign at the bridge). We will be set up there at the large retention pond.
From Crawfordville: Drive north on Crawfordville Hwy. About 3/4 of a mile north of the light with Wakulla Springs Road you will cross Munson Slough (there is a brown sign at the bridge). Turn right immediately after crossing over the bridge, we will be set up there at the large retention pond.
GPS coordinates: 30.3574, -84.301 (you should be able to type into your smartphone's maps app and it will give you accurate directions)
