We’re doing a joint workday with Audubon JayWatch volunteers to remove sand pines between two promising Scrub Jay territories at FWC Henscratch, which will help the Scrub Jay groups on either side to expand.
You can start at either 8 AM or 9 AM, and afterwards we'll be having a cookout!

We'll be using hand saws, loppers, sawsalls, and chainsaws (for qualified Ridge Rangers) to cut down the intruding sand pines.
The objective is to reduce the density of sand pines and return the area to oak scrub, which will hopefully allow the Scrub-Jay groups to expand.
Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for working in brush.
Also please bring your work gloves and a hiker’s water bottle or similar. We’ll
have plenty of cold drinking water and all the tools needed.
Meet at 3900 Grand Concourse, Sebring, FL 33875
See a map at this link showing how to get to the meeting location from the intersection of US 27 and US 98 (south of Sebring)
