We’ll be cutting down way-too-abundant oaks to help restore the conservation area to its natural state of scrubby flatwoods.

We'll be using hand saws, loppers, and chainsaws (for those qualified) to remove intruding trees in the conservation area at Mackay Gardens.

The objective is to reduce the density of intruding oaks and return the acreage to scrubby flatwoods.

Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for working in brush. Also please bring your work gloves and a hiker’s water bottle or similar. We’ll have plenty of cold drinking water and all the tools needed.

Meet in the main parking area for Mackay Gardens.
