Help preserve the Nature Conservancy Tiger Creek site by installing fencing.

Maintaining good boundaries helps conservation preserves by reducing damaging intrusions and poaching. We’ll be helping TNC staff construct a new fence along the eastern boarder of Tiger Creek.

Please wear sturdy footwear, long pants/long sleeves, and a hat. Please bring your workgloves and a hiker's water bottle or similar.

We'll have cold drinking water and all the tools necessary.

Meet at the Creek Bluffs Trail Entrance

The Creek Bluffs Trail Entrance is located at the end of Wakeford Road, off of Walk-In-Water Road.

Walk-in-Water Road can be accessed via Hwy 630E out of Frostproof, or by going east on SR 60 from Lake Wales.

Tiger Creek Preserve is a place of mystery and contrasts. It sits on the eastern edge of the Lake Wales Ridge, one of Florida’s “ancient islands.” Separated from the mainland long ago by a shallow sea, the Ridge is peninsular Florida’s oldest and highest landmass. 

Named after the pristine blackwater stream that forms its spine, the preserve contains hardwood swamps, hammocks, scrubby flatwoods, pine flatwoods, sandhill and longleaf pine/wiregrass habitat. It’s a land that must be burned in order to survive, and one where some animals literally swim through ancient white sands.
