This site is near Deer Point Lake. From either Hwy. 77 or 231, take Co. Rd. 2321 to Co. Rd. 2311, then turn left onto Tara Ln. We will meet at the end of the cul-de-sac. Directions and a map will be sent to participants prior to the event.

What will we be doing?

We will be removing hardwood species and overstory vegetation from a crayfish habitat restoration site. If you have your own pair of loppers, please bring them! The goal of this project is to restore this area to habitat that the Panama City Crayfish can utilize. The Panama City Crayfish is listed as a Species of Special Concern, and is only found in Panama City, FL.

What to Bring:

  • Water!

  • Snacks if you need them

  • Loppers if you have them

What to Wear:

  • Closed-toed shoes

  • Long pants & sleeves

  • Clothes you don’t mind getting sap on

  • Sunscreen, bugspray

Important Notes:

  • You will likely get sap on your clothes while removing cut trees and brush from the area – this is very difficult to get out of clothing!

  • Be mindful that you will be working in the vicinity of potential hazards, such as falling trees

  • Minors (<18 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult, and have signed permission from a legal parent or guardian

  • There are no facilities at the site

Space is limited to sign up today to join our restoration efforts! If the event is full, please sign up for our waitlist, as we may add an afternoon session depending on the number of people wishing to volunteer.
