This
site is near Deer Point Lake. From either Hwy. 77 or 231, take Co. Rd. 2321 to
Co. Rd. 2311, then turn left onto Tara Ln. We will meet at the end of the
cul-de-sac. Directions and a map will be sent to participants prior to the
event.
What
will we be doing?
We
will be removing hardwood species and overstory vegetation from a crayfish
habitat restoration site. If you have your own pair of loppers, please bring them! The goal of this project is to restore this area to habitat
that the Panama City Crayfish can utilize. The Panama City Crayfish is listed
as a Species of Special Concern, and is only found in Panama City, FL.

Notes:
-
You will
likely get sap on your clothes while removing cut trees and brush from the area
– this is very difficult to get out of clothing!

Be
mindful that you will be working in the vicinity of potential hazards, such as falling trees

Minors
(<18 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult, and have signed
permission from a legal parent or guardian

There
are no facilities at the site

number of people wishing to volunteer.
